What are Southdown Babydoll Sheep

• Southdown Babydolls are known for their sweet demeanor and short stature. The standard being no more than 24 inches (60.9 cm) tall, these little bundles serve our small homestead well. Since they are smaller we could fit more on our property. Their breed hails from England and is a variation of Southdown sheep. 
• Not only are babydolls easy keepers they have can serve many purposes from fiber (wool) and great breeders to a meat source. 
• Their fleece is wonderfully soft and I am still learning how to work with it. 

Our Sheep 

Wyatt 

Wyatt is our three-year-old ram. He serves as the sire of our beginning breeding program of NABSSAR registered sheep. 

Like anyone he has good days and bad. But usually you can find him lounging around in his pasture. We have deemed this his tree because this is where Wyatt chooses to take his naps. 

Wyatt loves treats like fruit loops and animal crackers. He will do anything for a treat. 

Blossom

Blossom is one our ewes and new mama to Wendy. NABSSAR registered and a little over a year old, she successfully lambed in the spring. Blossom is a sweet and shy girl who has really taken to my husband. 

Blossom loves her grain and being in the back pasture where she has room to roam. Although she loves hanging out with her half-brother, Winston, one of her best friends is our other ewe, Chloe.

 

Chloe and Wendy

Chloe (the back ewe) and Wendy (the front ewe) are both NABSSAR registered baydoll ewes. Chloe is extremely shy so I have very few photos of her. Wendy on the other hand is very photogenic. She loves to be the center of attention as long as you don't get too close. 

Chloe is currently a part of our breeding program and hopefully will lamb spring 2024. Wendy is currently in search of a new home as she will not be a part of our breeding program. 

Winston 

Winston is my boy. He is our only unregistered because he is a wether. I am currently halter training him. I love, love, love Winston. He is such a sweet boy who loves to have his picture taken. 

He is also Blossom's half brother and current baby sister of Wendy during breeding season.
